Big Bend National Park - heaven on earth. It is my sacred lace where I worship the creator in all of its majesty. Early morning on the east side of the park  backlights the mountains to the south in Mexico, the Sierra del Carmen Mountain range, with El Piico  as its prominent peak. This scene is from about an hour after sunrise with the haze of the morning still on the mountains. the golden spine cactus is getting light on its spines from behind and a patch of grass glows as the desert comes to life. There are what seems like endless miles of landscape to the horizon. There is no traffic noise, no airplanes, no people's voices. It's just silence, with only the birds and sometimes the wind moving through the vastness. It's peaceful and brings about a reverence for the land and the environment. It's undisturbed like my soul and puts me at rest and in connection with my creator. This will be my final resting place.
