Unruly Grace

Someone asked me what this painting meant, right after I painted it. There is a sense of controlled chaos here - some implied motion radiating from a little off the center, bursting into the rest of the colors, creating a high-energy focal point. The dark colors, deep ultramarine signify conflict, maybe some darkness, but it is juxtaposed with vibrant yellows and whites, which to me, mean joy and purity. The periphery of burgundy and earthy reds are the love that surrounds and grounds me. It helps contain the chaos. The scatterred touches of green represent growth. The lavender touches are those calm moments that surround me. There is depth to life, as there is in the painting. And as the title suggests, there is an unruly presence in the grace.
