Winter Sunrise at Miralomas

Sunrise in the Texas Hill Country - my favorite time of year. I am fortunate to have a view every morning, and sometimes it's spectacular. Every time I paint a sky, I learn something new. I changed up the technique on this a bit. Used a painting knife for almost all of the sky, and a very soft sable filbert to blend. I scraped the entire sky off once, and it left a wonderful colored tone to the canvas, on which I was able to repaint the clouds. The end result is striking.
