We had an unexpected death in the family that was tragic, unexplainable, and made no sense. I was in the middle of this painting when I got the call. I had no idea why I chose this subject until I finished. The unimaginable created an opportunity for my entire family to come together, put aside differences, and gather around for healing and comfort. When I finished, all of a sudden I realized that even on the cloudiest day, in our darkest moments, the light is still there. If we wait just a little while, it will shine through. And it brings light, color, warmth, and healing.
